A little about me... I grew up playing football outside with the boys and climbing trees until it became dark outside, then my mom stated it was time to come in for dinner. I loved being outside, active, enjoying the whole day and every day and still do. Some of my favorite memories are of my dad and I fishing, dirt biking, and hiking out in the woods. To me, Oregon is one of my favorite states to be in because there are so many outdoor activities and sports to be involved with. The beauty in the mountain sunrises, beach sunsets, reflection off the snow and lakes, green accents from the trees. I am thankful for where I am today. |
All subjects in school have been intriguing to me, but Physical Education and Health have always been some of my most enjoyable subjects. I love to move, I need to move, I have to move. When I first went to college I wanted to first do engineering, as I enjoy building things, the income was great and career field was booming. I went to Oregon State University for Computer Engineering and enjoyed it, but I realized that fully enjoying life was not about the income, but about what a person really enjoys and wants to become. I transferred to Western Oregon University and graduated in Exercise Science - Physical Education with a minor in Health. I also coached several sports and loved it all. After my undergraduate degree, I decided I wanted to work to get some professional work under my belt and took some years off school. I went to work in a hospital doing cardiac and pulmonary rehab as the exercise specialist. While working at the hospital I always had that call to continue my education in teaching for physical activity and wellness. I had the opportunity to get into medical school for orthopedic surgery, but put that aside to follow what I wanted to fulfill. After getting my satisfaction of professional work in, I decided it was time to go back to school at Willamette University for my Masters of Arts in Teaching to pursue what was in my heart by following the teaching career as a Physical Education and Health teacher. Here I am today!
